State Advocacy Manager  Work Location: Remote  Department: Advocacy and Policy  Reports to: Vice President of Advocacy  Full Time: Exempt  Travel: 0–30% (seasonal)  Position Summary  The State Advocacy Manager will lead Fight CRC’s state-level advocacy and organizing efforts to expand access to colorectal cancer (CRC) screening and care. This role will focus on building and mobilizing coalitions of advocates, patients, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community organizations to advance state advocacy priorities.  The State Advocacy Manager will oversee the Catalyst Program, a national initiative designed to strengthen state systems and policies that support colorectal cancer screening and follow-up care. The program works with community leaders, healthcare organizations, insurers, policymakers, and advocates to identify gaps in screening and follow-up care and implement practical solutions that improve patient outcomes.  The State Advocacy Manager will support grassroots and grass tops engagement and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across targeted states. This individual will work to strengthen Fight CRC’s advocacy infrastructure by empowering local partners and advocates to influence state policy and drive meaningful change for the colorectal cancer community. This position plays a key role in translating national strategy into state-level action, helping partners understand data, implement solutions, and advocate for improvements in healthcare systems and policies. The position will work closely with the VP of Advocacy and Director of Federal Policy to ensure alignment between state and federal advocacy strategies.    Key Responsibilities  State Advocacy and Organizing  - Develop and implement state advocacy strategies to advance policies that improve access to CRC screening, treatment, and care.  - Build and maintain strong relationships with patient advocates, community organizations, healthcare providers, and advocacy partners across key states.  - Recruit, train, and mobilize grassroots advocates to engage in state-level advocacy activities, including legislative outreach, awareness campaigns, and coalition initiatives.  - Support advocates in effectively sharing their stories and engaging policymakers.  Coalition Building and Partnership Development  - Cultivate and manage coalitions of nonprofits, public health organizations, patient groups, and healthcare stakeholders working to advance CRC priorities at the state level.  - Identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration among advocacy partners and expand Fight CRC’s network of state-based allies.  - Represent Fight CRC in state coalitions, advocacy groups, and community partnerships.  - Develop and maintain relationships with state legislators, health departments, public health leaders, and other key decision-makers.  - Coordinate advocacy outreach and engagement efforts that elevate CRC priorities with state policymakers.  Catalyst Program Leadership  - Lead the Catalyst Program, providing strategic direction and support to local organizations and advocates working to advance CRC-related initiatives.  - Oversee Catalyst Grants, including recruitment, application, onboarding and implementation, ensuring grantees have the tools and guidance needed to advance state advocacy goals.  - Track program outcomes and evaluate the impact of Catalyst initiatives.  - Support the documentation of successful strategies and lessons learned for replication in other states.  Data-Informed Advocacy  - Work with Fight CRC staff and partners to understand and communicate key insights from state screening and follow-up data.  - Help partners interpret data reports that highlight gaps in screening rates and follow-up care.  - Use data insights to guide advocacy strategies and identify priority areas for action.  Advocacy Campaign Support  - Contribute to the planning and execution of Fight CRC’s advocacy campaigns by integrating state-level organizing and stakeholder engagement strategies.  - Identify opportunities for state advocates and partners to participate in national advocacy initiatives.  Reporting and Program Coordination  - Provide regular updates on state advocacy activities, coalition progress, and program outcomes.  - Track advocacy actions, coalition engagement, and community outreach activities.  - Assist with program reporting, case studies, and documentation of successful state strategies.  Qualifications  - Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).  - 5–7 years of experience in advocacy, grassroots organizing, coalition building, or public health initiatives.  - Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups, and stakeholders.  - Experience organizing grassroots advocates and managing coalition-based advocacy initiatives.  - Ability to implement and track program evaluation to show progress and impact  - Understanding of state legislative processes and advocacy strategies.  Additional Skills  - - Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.  - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage diverse audiences.  - Ability to organize and mobilize stakeholders around advocacy priorities.  - Strong project management and organizational skills.  - Experience working remotely and managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.  - Familiarity with colorectal cancer screening and treatment issues is a plus.  - Willingness to travel for state meetings, coalition convenings, and advocacy events.
