Job Title: Reinsurance Analyst

Our client is looking a highly skilled Reinsurance Analyst to support complex reinsurance processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to operational excellence across reporting, systems, and treaty administration. In this senior role, you will handle advanced reinsurance activities, provide subject‑matter expertise, and mentor junior team members while driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and validate complex reinsurance data, systems, and file structures; identify discrepancies and support audit activities.
• Resolve complex issues independently and remove obstacles to ensure timely, accurate deliverables.
• Prepare advanced financial, regulatory, and management reports related to reinsurance.
• Draft reinsurance treaties, LOAs, and RFPs, with the ability to negotiate terms under guidance.
• Oversee retention processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and treaty requirements.
• Maintain a strong understanding of key regulations that influence the reinsurance lifecycle.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with business partners; act as an advisor to operational leaders when needed.
• Develop, update, and optimize processes, procedures, and tools.
• Perform and review reinsurance transactions, reconciliations, analytics, and research with knowledge of GAAP/STAT accounting.
• Address escalated accounting issues and interpret regulatory impacts on reinsurance activities.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for special projects involving reinsurance systems, contracts, product launches, and audits.
• Oversee responses to internal/external audits and reinsurer requests.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.
• Support team leads with work delegation, issue escalation, and trend identification.
• Recommend improvements and contribute to innovation across processes and systems.
• Ensure all activities are aligned with corporate risk and compliance frameworks.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• OR four additional years of related experience in lieu of a degree
• 6+ years of experience as an analyst
Preferred Qualifications
• 4+ years working with Life Insurance and/or Annuity products
• Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or Accounting
• 4+ years of hands‑on experience in Life or Annuity reinsurance administration
• Proven ability to interpret and apply reinsurance treaty language
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (4+ years)
• 2+ years of experience with Visual Basic
• 2+ years of project management experience
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles
• Basic experience with Query tools, XML, and/or SQL (2+ years)
• Experience with Oracle‑based systems
Note
This role offers remote flexibility across the continental United States, with occasional business travel. Candidates living within 60 miles of an office location may be asked to work on‑site up to four days per week.
