Oncology Triage Registered Nurse- Remote

About the position Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) is seeking a Triage Nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge to provide individualized care and clinical guidance to patients, families, and caregivers. The position requires a professional registered nurse who can assist with ongoing healthcare needs, triage oncology patient calls, monitor patient symptom management, and manage high-risk, complex patient care. The Triage Nurse will work under general supervision, following established policies and procedures, and will be responsible for facilitating communication among the multidisciplinary cancer care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities • Provide care to patients by triaging oncology patient calls regarding treatment, surgery, and appointment information. • Monitor and provide patient symptom management. • Manage high risk, complex patient care to minimize emergency department and inpatient readmission. • Assess barriers to care to address patient, caregiver, or family needs. • Provide patient-centered individualized ongoing education, resources, and referrals. • Assist the physician and PA-C/ARNP with specific patient/family interactions. • Complete requested clinical documentation as needed. • Establish and maintain professional role boundaries with patients and caregivers. • Facilitate communication among members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team. • Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patient's condition. • Provide patient education and clinical direction following treatments. Requirements • Three (3) years or more of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN). • Two (2) years or more of oncology experience required. • Registered Nurse multistate or Florida single state licensure required. • Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred. • Certification as an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) preferred. Nice-to-haves • Strong organizational skills. • Ability to prioritize and reprioritize quickly. • Ability to develop collaborative relationships both internally and externally. • Strong written communication skills. • Strong telephonic assessment and communication skills. • Ability to work autonomously and with a virtual team in a remote work environment. • Strong oncology side effect/triage management. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. • Possess high level critical-thinking skills.
