Role Description
This role involves navigating various electronic health record (EHR) and computer applications to support patient care and related initiatives.
• Receives, collects, sorts, prepares, and scans clinical documentation into the EHR according to HIM procedures.
• Analyzes non-interfaced patient laboratory reports for compliance with regulations.
• Utilizes optical character recognition software to enter data into the EHR.
• Identifies and creates appropriate laboratory tests using medical terminology.
• Records normal and abnormal findings, ensuring accurate entry of laboratory values.
• Locates or creates appropriate patient, encounter, and/or order documentation.
• Adapts to new laboratory tests and validates data points and laboratory codes.
• Communicates with patient care and external laboratories for education and data entry services.
• Performs quality assurance of scanned documentation for accuracy and clarity.
• Completes timely error correction processes and ensures secure retention of PHI.
• Operates office equipment and performs routine maintenance.
Qualifications
• High School Graduate.
• Typically requires 2 years of experience in health information or laboratory assistance.
Requirements

• Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
