**Job Summary:**
We are seeking experienced Distributed Systems Engineers to join our Data Platform team and help us advance and develop our infrastructure as we pursue our ambitious goal of reaching 500 million users worldwide. As a Distributed Systems Engineer at arenaflex, you will be part of a diverse and comprehensive team that values innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. **Focus Areas:**
Our Data Platform team is divided into several focus areas, each with its unique challenges and opportunities:
* **Database Access Stage:** This team builds and maintains an adaptable query interface that enables data considerations to operate at sub-millisecond latencies while allowing Netflix microservices to store, consume, and manage their data more efficiently.
* **Data Stage Foundation:** This team serves as a platform for our own data platforms, providing a common foundation and tooling that enables arenaflex to rapidly enhance its data and analytics capabilities without building custom platforms for each new framework.
* **Data Development and Handling:** This team offers a self-service, cleared-way item that empowers diverse client personas across arenaflex to meet their low-latency data development and handling needs, while also providing a diagram-driven handling experience and investing in functional automation, reliability, and tools for predictable data quality.
* **Big Data Figure:** This team is responsible for providing a cloud-native stage for distributed data handling at arenaflex, offering support for Flash, ETL data into the Petabytes-scale data warehouse, and access to that data using Flash and Voila/TrinoDB.
* **Big Data Arrangement:** This team offers a stage for booking, organizing, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve way, incorporating primary services that have all ETL and ML responsibilities running on Big Data Frameworks at arenaflex.
**Responsibilities:**
As a Distributed Systems Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for:
* Designing and building a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure
* Architecting and implementing data platforms and tools that support arenaflex's business needs
* Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and TPMs across teams to drive cross-functional initiatives and projects
* Contributing to open-source communities and adding to arenaflex's OSS (Open-Source Software)
* Solving real-world business problems at scale by applying your programming and scientific thinking skills
* Working with diverse technologies, including Java, Python, and other article-oriented programming languages
* Handling multi-threading and other concurrency challenges
**Requirements:**
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems or applications
* Strong skills in designing and developing peaceful web services
* Experience in building and working with versatile, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems
* Knowledge of Java or other article-oriented programming languages
* Ability to handle multi-threading and other concurrency challenges
* BS in Software Engineering or a related field
