What this role is
This EDF Fellowship is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in corporate sustainability and environmental data management. As an EDF Fellow, you will play a key role in supporting our sustainability initiatives, with a particular focus on assisting our team with Supplier Engagement, Waste Landscape Analyses, EcoVadis support and sustainability data analysis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects and gain exposure to real-world sustainability challenges.
What this role isn't
This is not a passive research role or an internship focused solely on theoretical work. While you will leverage academic and technical knowledge, the primary focus is on practical application and direct support for ongoing sustainability initiatives. This role does not involve routine administrative tasks; rather, it is an opportunity to actively engage with key projects that shape our sustainability strategy.
What you'll bring to the table
- A strong background in sustainability, environmental science, data analysis, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework in sustainability reporting, materiality assessments, or climate-related financial disclosures and project management.
- Knowledge of cloud migration strategies and an understanding of IT infrastructure transitions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in data interpretation and scenario modeling.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting platforms (Workday, Watershed, or similar).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with stakeholders and presenting insights.
- A proactive mindset with an eagerness to contribute to meaningful sustainability initiatives.
Some details about what you'll do
- Support the development and deployment of the annual Supplier Assessment.
- Provide database support during the transition into Workday Strategic Sourcing sustainability data management and the exploration of AI capabilities.
- Assist in the development of a modified supplier training framework and identify trainings by sustainability maturity level.
- Provide support for the Watershed Supplier Engagement module.
- Analyze Scope 3 sustainability data to enhance reporting accuracy and decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align sustainability initiatives with business goals.
- Partnering with internal teams on conducting a waste landscape analysis.
- Evaluating waste/ e-waste and related carbon emissions.
Requirements
- Current graduate or upper-level undergraduate student in sustainability, environmental science, data science, business, or a related field.
- Experience with sustainability frameworks, sustainability reporting, or environmental data analysis.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or Python.
- Familiarity with cloud migration processes and IT infrastructure is a plus.
- Experience with sustainability platforms like Workday, Watershed, or similar tools is desirable.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation:
This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonus opportunities.
