Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Remote or Chicago, IL
Reports to: SVP Finance

Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of 5-7 properties within Arbor Lodging’s portfolio of hotels.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
- Addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, bank/balance sheet reconciliations, and financial report preparation.
- Supports hotel properties and provides financial information to other professional service providers, tax accountants, etc. for follow-up
- Overall day-to-day management of financial reporting accuracy for assigned properties
- Bank and other balance sheet reconciliations
- Payroll reconciliations
- Perform, review and approve account classifications
- Process property tax returns in compliance with state and local tax jurisdictions
- Implement accounting procedures and necessary training to promote GAAP Compliance
- Identify and communicate process inefficiencies or operational issues observed while performing balance sheet reconciliations and audits and recommend appropriate solutions
- Review the accuracy of AP and AR transactions
- Review G/L for any missing transactions and overall accuracy
- Maintain capitalization policy
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow statements
- Support external auditors in completing annual audits
- Work closely with Hotel Teams, Regional Operations Team, and SVP Finance to ensure effective coordination between Accounting and Operations
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of hotel finance experience
- M3 and Hotel PMS system experience a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
- Effective organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay is based upon several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your annual salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, and 401k contributions (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
