We are an educational brand specializing in Montessori musical instruments for children aged 18 months to 4 years. We are looking for a talented 3D animator/motion designer to bring our 2D book characters to life in a series of warm and educational videos.
Our goal is to create a "dual-target" experience: captivating for children while being reassuring and aesthetically pleasing for parents.
Scope of work
For this initial contract, we would like to start with one or two pilot videos based on our pre-written scripts:
Instrument presentation: a 3D scene where our three totem characters (bear, rabbit, hedgehog) introduce the xylophone and other instruments.
Tutorial video: a tutorial seen from above (similar to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star") where the xylophone bars light up in sync with the music, guided by our characters.
Key creative requirements
Visual style: "3D illustration" rendering. We want to avoid photographic realism. The rendering should be soft, minimalist, and "handcrafted," similar to the illustrations in our books.
Tactile textures: characters and environments should resemble real materials.
Character modeling: you will need to model and animate three characters:
The bear (protector): large, round, chocolate/peanut tones.
The rabbit (explorer): lively, powder/cream tones.
The hedgehog (wise): small, ball-shaped, with soft felt quills.
Technical and audio requirements
Audio: High-quality sound design is essential. Use real wood instrument sounds (no "childish" electronic beeps).
Music: For the xylophone, the notes must be accurate (range: C-D-E-F-G-A-B-C).
Voice-over: We will provide the scripts in French. You must be able to synchronize the animation with a soft, soothing, and encouraging voice-over.
Candidate profile
Proven experience in stylized 3D animation (portfolio required).
Ability to render soft lighting and "Montessori"-style environments.
Experience in creating content for the early childhood sector is a major asset.
