Start your day by getting your hands dirty and doing good. Our warehouse associates work 7 am-2 pm every weekday and are responsible for sanitation/managing food waste and assisting with warehouse operations in the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working on a team, in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment. You will assist with a variety of essential tasks to ensure our operations run smoothly and be an essential part of our nonprofit as we reduce food waste and food insecurity across Philadelphia.
Responsibilities:
? Inspecting and de-packaging all of the non-edible produce (including food that is bruised, moldy, punctured, etc).
? Set up, breakdown, and general upkeep of food sorting area.
? Supervising and training on-site volunteer produce sorters/depackagers, when applicable.
? Packs produce in boxes ready for distribution.
Qualifications:
? Available 7 am -2 pm M-F.
? Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at one time.
? Must have a personal vehicle. Our warehouse is in an industrial area and not accessible via public transportation.
? Passionate about community food security and reducing food waste, interested in mission-driven work.
