Veterinary Assistant Instructor, Part-Time

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a part-time temporary Veterinary Assistant Instructor. Applications will be accepted until position is filled. To apply, interested candidates will need to complete in full, our online application and attach a resume, cover letter and unofficial transcripts. • Prepare course materials, including syllabus, curriculum, lectures, hands-on activities, and assessments aligned with program objectives. • Instruct students on the role, duties, and responsibilities of a veterinary assistant in both classroom and laboratory settings. • Compile bibliographies of specialized materials or assign outside readings to enhance student learning. • Construct, administer, and grade examinations, quizzes, assignments, and other assessments. • Maintain all required College records, including attendance, grade reports, and roll books in accordance with College policies. • Make recommendations to the Department Chair regarding supplies, equipment needs, and repairs to ensure an effective learning environment. • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and success. • Stay current with institutional policies, procedures, and program guidelines, and adhere to all College policies EDUCATION: • Relevant degree or credential in veterinary technology, veterinary assisting, or a related field (associate's degree or higher preferred). • Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience as a veterinary assistant, technician, or in a similar role KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS: • Prior teaching or training experience preferred, but not required. • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. • Commitment to student success and ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning need LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: • Veterinary Assistant Certification or Veterinary Tech Diploma PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Requires prolonged standing and ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted.
