Position Summary
The Special Education Mentor supports students through a combination of co-teaching in general education settings and targeted lab instruction aligned to individualized learning needs. This role focuses on delivering specialized instruction in either Math or Language Arts/Study Skills while fostering student growth, independence, and academic success.
Essential Duties (Top 5 Roles)
1) Co-Teaching in General Education Classrooms
- Collaborate with general education mentors to plan and deliver instruction that supports diverse learners
- Implement accommodations and modifications aligned to student learning plans
- Facilitate small group and differentiated instruction within the classroom setting
2) Specialized Lab Instruction
- Provide direct instruction in a lab setting to support special education service minutes in:
Reading
Writing
Math
Study Skills
● Design targeted lessons based on student needs and progress data
● Support skill development in organization, executive functioning, and academic intervention
3) Content-Specific Instructional Role
- Serve in a clearly defined instructional focus area:
- - Math Mentor: Deliver math intervention and support numeracy skill development through both co-teaching and lab instruction
- Language Arts/Study Skills Mentor: Deliver reading, writing, and study skills instruction through both co-teaching and lab instruction
Plan and deliver instruction aligned to both general education curriculum and specialized learning needs
- Ensure consistency between co-taught classes and lab-based interventions
4) Progress Monitoring & Data Tracking
- Track student progress toward academic and skill-based goals
- Use data to inform instructional decisions and interventions
- Communicate progress with internal stakeholders as needed
5) Collaboration & Program Support
- Partner with academic teams to ensure alignment of support strategies
- Contribute to a positive, student-centered learning environment
- Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development

Minimum Qualifications
- Special Education Teaching License in the state of Colorado
- Colorado Resident
- Experience supporting diverse learners in academic settings
- Ability to differentiate instruction across multiple subject areas
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Familiarity with progress monitoring and intervention strategies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a virtual or online learning environment
- Experience co-teaching in inclusive classroom settings
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and tools
- Experience supporting students with executive functioning and study skills development
Working Conditions
- Full-time remote position
- Must be available during regular business hours and peak enrollment cycles
- Occasional off-hour virtual meetings may be required
- Occasional in-person evaluations or student support may be needed

- $60,000-$70,000
