What This Firm Does
This team serves high-net-worth individuals, families, and closely held business owners with sophisticated estate planning and post-death administration. The practice spans advanced transfer tax planning, trust and probate administration, fiduciary counseling, charitable planning, and business succession strategies. Attorneys here blend technical depth with practical, client-first execution.
Why This Role Stands Out
You’ll step into meaningful responsibility on day one: take work directly from a Partner, lead and develop a small team of 2–5 Associates, and grow into broader leadership. The firm rewards ownership, clear communication, and consistent delivery. You’ll get real client contact, autonomy with support, and a visible path to greater influence in the practice.
What You’ll Do
• Handle complex estate plans and wealth-transfer strategies (GRATs, IDGTs, ILITs, CRTs, FLPs/LLCs)
• Lead trust and probate administrations from intake through closing, including fiduciary guidance and risk management
• Draft and review advanced planning instruments, transfer documents, and related tax filings
• Oversee and mentor a small team of Associates; delegate work, review output, and develop talent
• Manage post-death administration tasks: marshaling assets, trust funding, disclaimers, accountings, and distributions
• Interface directly with clients, advisors, and fiduciaries; translate technical issues into practical solutions
• Coordinate with tax professionals on estate, gift, and fiduciary returns (Forms 706, 709, 1041, 541)
• Contribute to business development, visibility, and practice growth initiatives
What You Need
• JD from an accredited law school; active California Bar in good standing
• 10+ years of Trusts & Estates experience with significant first-chair trust administration and advanced planning
• Proven ability to receive work directly from a Partner and consistently hit 1,800+ billable hours/year
• Track record supervising and developing 2–5 Associates or a comparable team
• Mastery of core T&E documents and advanced techniques; strong drafting, judgment, and client management skills
• Hands-on experience with estate, gift, and fiduciary tax concepts and filings (706/709/1041/541)
• High integrity, ownership mindset, and clear, direct communication with clients and colleagues
• Business development aptitude a plus (speaking, writing, referral cultivation, or client origination)
Work Model
Fully Remote — collaborate seamlessly with colleagues and clients nationwide without the need to be on-site.
Benefits
• Performance bonuses tied to billables, quality, and client outcomes
• Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
• 401(k) with employer contribution
• Bar dues and CLE support
• Generous PTO and firm holidays
• Structured leadership path, mentorship, and internal marketing support
