The Operations Engineer role is critical for ensuring system uptime and stability by triaging and resolving incidents affecting infrastructure, applications, and networks, while providing opportunities for skill development in cloud infrastructure and automation.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical incidents, alerts, and service requests
- Triage and resolve server, network, and application issues; escalate with full context when needed
- Monitor system health using tools like New Relic and native cloud monitoring services
- Document all troubleshooting steps, findings, and resolutions in the ticketing system
- Follow incident management and escalation procedures to maintain SLA compliance
- Support patching, system checks, and maintenance windows
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to ensure thorough handoffs
- Participate in on-call rotations and assist during outages or critical events
- Contribute to improving runbooks, knowledge base articles, and monitoring dashboards
- Partner with senior engineers to find automation opportunities and streamline tasks
- Participate in post-incident reviews to identify root causes and recommend improvements
Skills
- 1–3 years of experience in IT operations, helpdesk, or systems support
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows Server, networking, and application environments
- Basic familiarity with Azure (preferred) and/or AWS environments
- Experience with monitoring platforms such as New Relic or Datadog
- Excellent written communication skills for clear documentation and escalation
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and time zones
- Ability to multitask and stay composed under pressure
- Growth mindset with interest in learning automation, scripting, and infrastructure concepts
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, load balancers, and firewalls
- Understanding of incident and change management practices; ITIL familiarity
