Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is seeking Law Clerks for their Workers Compensation Division. This full-time opportunity during Summer Break offers law students practical legal experience while working closely with the Director of Corporate Counsel and gaining exposure to various facets of the company.
Responsibilities
• Assist Director of Corporate Counsel with legal research, analysis, and document review
• Assist Director of Corporate Counsel in the preparation of memoranda, position statements, contracts and agreements, including master services, licensing, professional services, and vendor agreements
• Special projects as assigned
Skills
• Current law students attending an ABA-approved law school in the United States who have completed their first or second year(s)
• Strong legal research and writing skills, including proficient use of LEXIS and/or Westlaw
• Proficient in Microsoft word processing software, Microsoft spreadsheet software, and able to quickly master and demonstrate proficiency with applicable databases, systems, and vendor software programs
• Exceptional academic credentials
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
• Able to take direction and effectively partner with legal and non-legal personnel
• Able to synthesize complex and diverse information and identify items requiring additional information or action
