About the position
Manages and supports an assigned commercial lending portfolio focused on
borrowers and transactions in the power, energy, and utilities sectors. Performs
sector-specific screening, underwriting, structuring, execution support, and
ongoing portfolio monitoring while partnering with relationship managers, senior
lenders, credit partners, and other internal stakeholders. Ensures strong credit
discipline, responsive client service, and compliance with Bank policies,
regulatory requirements, and portfolio risk standards.
Responsibilities
• Support the lending and sales process for clients and prospects in the power,
energy, and utilities sectors independently or in partnership with senior
lenders and relationship managers.
• Screen, structure, and underwrite credit opportunities involving commercial
and industrial borrowers, utilities, power producers, energy developers, and
related entities.
• Analyze borrower financial performance, cash flow, collateral, industry
conditions, market dynamics, and transaction structures to assess
creditworthiness and risk.
• Review credit memoranda and underwriting packages for new transactions,
renewals, and amendments.
• Conduct ongoing monitoring of assigned portfolio relationships to ensure
asset quality, covenant compliance, appropriate risk ratings, and strong
client service.
• Review past dues, exceptions, upcoming maturities, covenant compliance,
borrowing base activity, and other portfolio indicators and recommend
corrective actions as needed.
• Monitor and report deteriorating credit conditions, industry developments,
commodity or market pressures, regulatory changes, and other factors that may
affect portfolio performance.
• Gather information required for annual reviews, renewals, amendments, and
waivers and develop informed recommendations based on credit analysis and
relationship performance.
• Partner with internal teams including credit analysts, loan administration,
legal counsel, appraisal or valuation resources, and other risk partners to
support accurate and timely transaction execution.
• Coordinate with external attorneys and other third parties in support of loan
documentation and closing requirements.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of Bank credit policies, underwriting
standards, loan documentation requirements, and applicable regulatory
expectations.
• Support organic growth within the assigned portfolio by identifying
opportunities to deepen client relationships and deliver additional financing
solutions consistent with Bank strategy and risk appetite.
• Ensure all activities, documentation, and decisions comply with applicable
laws, regulations, internal policies, and required training standards.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics,
or related field.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience in credit analysis,
commercial lending, portfolio management, corporate banking, project finance,
or similar financial services roles.
• Experience demonstrating ability to manage increasingly complex transactions,
analyze credit risk, and support client relationships in specialized
industries.
• Experience with bank or financial institution credit processes, loan
structuring, and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of commercial lending, credit underwriting, and portfolio
management principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and verbal
communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and transactions while
working collaboratively and independently.
• Proficiency in applications and systems used for credit, portfolio, and
relationship management.
