Job title: Lecturer in Chemistry in South Bend, IN at Indiana University Company: Indiana University Job description : Position Details Title Lecturer in Chemistry Appointment Status Non-Tenure Track Department IU South Bend Chemistry and Biochemistry Location South Bend Position Summary The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Indiana University South Bend invites applications for a full-time lecturer position starting August 1, 2025. The teaching load is equivalent to 12 credit hours of undergraduate coursework each semester (fall and spring). The successful candidate will be expected to teach freshman and sophomore level lectures and laboratories with the opportunity to teach advanced classes in the candidate's area of expertise. Some courses taught may be offered evening, weekend, off-site, and/or online. Summer teaching is voluntary and compensated separately. Lecturers are expected to participate in service activities to the department, school, campus, or community, such as regularly attending and participating in faculty meetings and serving on relevant committees. This position does not carry any expectations for a research program or publications. Basic Qualifications Required Qualifications A masters or Ph.D (ABD okay) in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related field Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to function effectively in our department and within the university Preferred Qualifications A Ph.D (ABD okay) in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related field Evidence of teaching ability/potential and interest Strong background in organic chemistry and/or biochemistry Experience with a variety of chemical instrumentation Experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
