POSTITION OVERVIEW
• The Junior Contract Manager is responsible for supporting the end-to-end contract management process and assisting with the identification, evaluation, and management of contractual and commercial risk in accordance with SMA’s legal, compliance, and risk management frameworks. This role is a key contributor within the Legal and Commercial organizations and works closely with Sales, Finance, Project Management, Procurement, Engineering, and Service teams to support successful project execution.
• The Contract Manager supports the review, drafting, negotiation, and administration of commercial contracts across project-based and service-oriented agreements. This position provides structured, detail-oriented support throughout the bid, execution, and close-out phases of projects, while developing deeper expertise in contract strategy, risk mitigation, and compliance.
• This is a fully remote position, supporting SMA’s business primarily in the United States, with additional exposure to Canada and Latin America as needed.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support Sales and bid teams by assisting in contract strategy development, opportunity evaluation, and profitability analysis
• Review, analyze, and draft contract terms and related documentation to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance with SMA policies and approval requirements
• Assist in identifying contractual and project risks and coordinate with internal stakeholders including Legal, Finance, Procurement, Project Management, and Service teams
• Support the contract approval and signature process in accordance with SMA governance and compliance policies
• Assist with managing the contracting process from bid phase through project execution, including contract handover documentation and internal training
• Support Project Management and Finance teams by summarizing and tracking key contract terms, risks, and billing structures
• Serve as a point of contact for contract-related questions from cross-functional teams
• Maintain draft and executed contract documentation, ensuring proper archiving and accessibility
• Support negotiations by preparing analyses, redlines, and documentation for review
• Assist in the development and implementation of contract templates, tools, policies, and processes
• Participate in project reviews and support contract interpretation during execution
• Support claims management activities by assisting with documentation, tracking, and risk identification
• Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field
• Experience supporting contract management, project coordination, legal operations, or commercial functions
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to interpret contractual language and identify risk areas with guidance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in cross-functional teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
• Certification or coursework in contract management, project management, finance, or a related discipline
• Exposure to construction, energy, infrastructure, or project-based industries
• Experience with SAP R/3 or similar ERP systems
• Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese
• Membership or interest in the National Contract Management Association (NCMA)
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally as needed

• Base salary range of $104,000 – $122,000 annually, dependent on experience
