Overview
We are a UK-based independent publishing house seeking experienced freelance copy-editors and proofreaders to join our editorial roster for ongoing work across fiction and nonfiction manuscripts. Projects are assigned on a rolling basis and priced per 1,000 words (not hourly).

Immediate Assignment Available:
We currently have one manuscript ready to assign to a suitable candidate, a 17,000-word middle grade crime adventure. A sample segment is attached in Word format for assessment purposes.
• * Please provide a quote for the attached manuscript for both copyediting and proofreading. The rest of the manuscript will be provided to you when the job starts but please ensure to quote for the full 17k words **

Required Editorial Services
1. Copy-Editing (with tracked changes)
In this service, you must:
• Fully edit manuscripts for grammar, flow, clarity, sentence structure, and word choice
• Maintain author voice and genre expectations
• Provide a short Style Sheet detailing edits made and explaining changes
Pricing requirements:
• Fiction — $3 per 1,000 words
• Nonfiction — $4 per 1,000 words

2. Proofreading
• Typos, punctuation, minor grammar, and formatting issues only (light correction)
• Must be performed using Track Changes
Two pricing tiers:
• $1.25 per 1,000 words — for manuscripts you have already copy-edited
• $2.50 per 1,000 words — for manuscripts you have not previously edited

Ideal Candidate
• Proven editorial experience in fiction and/or nonfiction (please specify)
• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written English
• Ability to follow style guides and work collaboratively with our project managers
• Comfortable working to deadlines and providing regular project updates
• Familiarity with MS Word Track Changes is essential
