LOCATION: Fully Remote - FL, IL, KS, MI, OH, PA, TX, UT, WI only.
POSITION SUMMARY
The VP, Website Hosting and Website Management (WHWM) is a hands-on technical leader responsible for the design, delivery, operation, implementation and continuous improvement of website hosting and management services supporting over 300 financial institutions that rely on CUSG to develop, host, and maintain their digital presence. This role is involved in the day-to-day performance, stability, security, and scalability of multiple hosting platforms, including enterprise SaaS solutions developed and operated by CUSG.
The VP of WHWM actively participates in the architecture, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of complex hosting environments. Each platform includes a sophisticated and unique technology stack, extensive third-party integrations, and high expectations related to security, uptime, performance, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance. This role works directly with internal teams and vendors to ensure hosting services consistently meet or exceed client and industry standards.
In addition to operational ownership, this position personally leads and executes major initiatives, including hardware and software upgrades, infrastructure modernization, tool selection and implementation, security enhancements, and hosting platform consolidation. The VP of WHWM balances immediate operational needs with long-term strategy, regularly analyzing system performance and capacity while identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
The VP of WHWM serves as a trusted technical advisor to the CTO, Department Leaders, and CEO, providing data-driven recommendations grounded in hands-on experience with CUSG’s hosting environments. This role is a collaborative, working leader who is passionate about website development and hosting and is directly accountable for delivering secure, high-quality hosting solutions that protect and enhance the brands of large financial institutions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of web hosting servers, databases, and related technologies.
- Ensure the availability and performance of web applications, websites, and services.
- Strong understanding of public cloud services, including AWS and Azure.
Security Management:
- Implement and maintain security protocols and measures to protect web hosting infrastructure against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents and breaches.
Team Leadership:
- Work with the CTO and a team of web hosting technicians and application developers.
- Assign tasks, set goals and timelines, and conduct regular reviews of hosting activities and objectives.
Future Planning:
- Work with the CTO and Technology Team Members to plan for hosting consolidation, including vendor due diligence, source planning, and transitional plans as needed to accommodate existing and future web hosting requirements.
Capacity Planning:
- Monitor server resources and plan for capacity upgrades as needed to accommodate growing web hosting requirements.
Vendor Management:
- Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure effective hosting solutions.
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships.
Backup and Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
Performance Optimization:
- Analyze and optimize server performance, including load balancing, caching, and content delivery networks (CDNs).
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
- Diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to web hosting infrastructure.
- Provide on-call support for critical incidents.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of server configurations, processes, and procedures.
Compliance and Regulation:
- Ensure web hosting infrastructure complies with industry standards, regulations, and data protection laws.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the web hosting budget, controlling costs, and optimizing resource allocation.
Training and Development:
- Keep the team updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Provide training opportunities for team members to enhance their skills.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong knowledge of web hosting technologies, including web servers, databases, and cloud services.
- Proficiency in server operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) and virtualization technologies.
- Proficiency in IIS management, Apache management, Node.JS management, MSSQL management, MariaDB management, PostgreSQL management, and other Web site technologies.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices and experience in implementing security measures.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong project management and leadership abilities.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with:
- TCP/IP Networking
- LAMP WHM/cPanel Administration
- Windows Server & IIS
- DNS
- Firewall management.
- Hosting-related sales & support
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum five years of experience in web hosting administration or a related role.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Position does not have direct reports.
