Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist / Growth Optimization Technical B2B SaaS - Contract / Fractional Remote | 20-30 hours per week Role Classification Role Type: Hands-on CRO / Growth Optimization Employment Type: Contract / Fractional Domain: Technical B2B SaaS / Developer Tools Primary Goal: Increase visitor free trial conversion rate Audience: DevOps, SRE, Network Administrators, QA Engineers, Software Developers Not a Fit For: SEO-only, content-only, brand-only, or people-management roles Overview We are seeking a hands-on Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) Specialist to own and improve conversion performance across our publicly facing B2B SaaS marketing website. Our product is evaluated by highly technical users-DevOps engineers, SREs, network admins, QA engineers, and software developers. This role requires strong technical literacy and the ability to communicate clearly and credibly with engineering-driven audiences. This is not a strategy-only or managerial role. You will personally analyze user behavior, design improvements, adjust copy and layouts, implement changes, and iterate based on results. What You'll Do • Analyze user behavior across core marketing pages (homepage, product pages, pricing, free trial signup) • Identify friction points and conversion drop-offs using quantitative and qualitative data • Translate technical product capabilities into clear, conversion-focused messaging for engineering audiences • Design and implement CRO improvements including: • Page layouts and visual hierarchy • Headlines, value propositions, and calls-to-action • Navigation and user flow logic • Create and run A/B tests where appropriate; apply best-practice improvements where testing is unnecessary • Make direct changes in CMS and landing pages • Collaborate with internal stakeholders when changes require review or coordination • Track results and continuously iterate to improve conversion rates Success Metrics • Measurable improvement in visitor free trial conversion rate • Reduced friction for technical users evaluating the product • Clear, credible messaging that resonates with DevOps and engineering audiences • Consistent delivery of conversion improvements, not just recommendations Required Experience • 3-6 years of hands-on CRO, growth optimization, or UX optimization experience • Proven experience optimizing B2B SaaS marketing websites • Strong balance of: • UX and conversion-focused design • Conversion copywriting • Behavioral analytics and funnel analysis • Strong technical literacy: • Comfortable with technical terminology • Understands how engineers evaluate tools • Able to work with technical products without oversimplification • Comfortable owning execution and outcomes Tools & Technical Skills You should be comfortable with most of the following: Analytics & Behavior • GA4, funnel analysis • Heatmaps, session recordings (Hotjar, FullStory, Microsoft Clarity) Experimentation • A/B testing tools (VWO, Optimizely, or equivalent) Design & Execution • Figma or similar design tools • CMS platforms (WordPress, Webflow, or similar) Core Skills CRO & Growth • Conversion rate optimization • Funnel analysis • UX optimization for technical buyers • A/B testing and experimentation Technical Understanding • Familiarity with DevOps, SRE, QA, and developer workflows • Experience marketing technical SaaS, infrastructure tools, APIs, or monitoring platforms • Comfortable reviewing technical documentation Execution • Hands-on implementation • Independent problem solving • Data-driven decision making Working Style • Execution-first, not strategy-only • Independent and proactive • Data-driven but pragmatic • Comfortable working with minimal engineering involvement • Strong opinions backed by evidence and user behavior Engagement Details • Contract / fractional role (20-30 hours per week) • Fully remote • Flexible schedule • Outcome-focused Nice to Have • Background in DevOps, QA, SRE, or software engineering (formal or informal) • Experience with monitoring, observability, infrastructure, or developer tools • Experience optimizing free-trial conversion for technical SaaS products Important Note If your background is primarily SEO, content marketing, brand design, or people management, this role is not a good fit. We are looking for a hands-on CRO practitioner who actively ships improvements and owns conversion outcomes.
